Aishwarya rai highest paid hottie

Friday, May 9th, 2008

She is a true ‘Diva’, the face that has given Bollywood enormous hits in the past and yet, has her legs firm on the ground!

Yes, we are talking of our own Jodhaa, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who has reached the pinnacle of success after the stupendous response that Jodhaa Akbar has got, both in India and overseas.

Reports are ripe that Ash will be paid a whopping 4 crore for the Rajnikanth starrer, ‘Robot’, and this means the actress will break all records and will be tagged the highest paid actress in India.

Well, even this huge money does not make this lady smile, as she is heartbroken as her hubby dearest, Abhishek is going for a long schedule in Miami for the shoot of newcomer director, Tarun Mansukhani’s Dostana, produced by Karan Johar!

Well, wondering what the reason for the grief is? Yes, Dostana was offered to Ash, but when she declined to take it, the role was taken by Priyanka Chopra. - Shubhash K Jha

Katrina Kaif scores over Aishwarya Rai

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

With a Bachchan name and a former Miss World title, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan may appear to be having it all, but there is one aspect where this Bollywood princess lags behind and has recently lost to the sizzling hot Katrina Kaif.

Reports are that Katrina has taken over the former beauty queen in the cyber world. There was a time when Ash was the most searched and her pictures the most downloaded.

But presently, with Katrina’s gorgeous face and hourglass figure, that are ruling downloads in the cyber space. Not only Ash, Katrina has taken over Kareena Kapoor as well. Bebo and Saif Ali Khan who a few weeks ago, were ranking among the top downloads have also lost out in this download race.

Katrina, whose last release was Race , will soon be seen with Akshay Kumar in Singh Is Kinng.

Aishwarya shocked Ram Gopal Varma

Monday, May 5th, 2008
The image “http://wallpapers.oneindia.in/d/111374-2/aishwarya-rai.JPG” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Ram Gopal Varma doesn’t know who Rebecca Mark is or what Enron is. Rebbeca had resigned from Enron in 2000 after a series of failed infrastructure investments that eventually cost the company more than $2 billion.

Enron’s Dabhol project in Maharashtra was the centre of a major controversy and grabbed headlines.

In a chat with Ramu we catch up on what Rebecca Mark means to Ramu and why Ash stunned the filmmaker:

The buzz is that Aishwarya’s character in Sarkar Raj is based on Rebecca Mark of Enron.

I have no idea what Enron is. I thought it made pens, because my knowledge of such things is limited. I have no idea what Rebbeca was doing.

Just because Rebecca is a woman in some project it’s simpler to put her as some character in Sarkar Raj. In the film we are dealing with a family that deals with politics and rules the state.

Obviously there are going to be strong references to issues that the government deals with like industries, projects, slums - so whatever it is there is bond to be some reference there.

The story is fictional and has nothing to do with anything happening now or what has happened before.

Among the three Bachchans who is the best in the film?
I take both Amitabh and Abhishek for granted so for me, Aishwarya came as a complete shock. I never thought she was a good or bad actress. Her beauty comes so much in the forefront that you don’t tend to see beyond it.

I needed someone with her looks for the role and I was sure I could make her act. But I was completely taken aback when I saw her on the sets. She completely fit into the rugged, raw realism of the character, almost like a fish takes to water. I am personally most impressed with her.

Sarkar was based on Godfather. Is SR based on Godfather 2?
No. Sarkar Raj has got nothing to do with Godfather 2. The original Sarkar was definitely influenced by Godfather. Sarkar Raj is about how a man like that, over a period of time, becomes part of so many complex situations.

It’s also about incidents that happen and how he deals with them. I would call it the further adventures of the Nagre family. It’s like watching an Ekta Kapoor serial where you don’t compare episodes - once you get hooked on to the characters you flow with them. The scale of SR is much larger and not so simplistic as the first plot.

Are you nervous about Sarkar Raj?
I never get nervous or excited about any film that I make. My job as a filmmaker is to do it the best way I can. If you keep being sensitive to what all everyone’s saying, then it’s very difficult to survive or exist. The moment the mixing of the film is over, I don’t think about that film - no matter what!

Abhishek to shake a leg with Aish’s ex boyfriend

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Vivek Oberoi will soon be shaking a leg with former love, Aishwarya’s husband Abhishek Bachchan in a film. And this mission impossible has been made possible by director Apoorva Lakhia, who has managed to convince the two to dance together for his film, Mission Istanbul. Vivek made more news for his alliance with Aishwarya than for his films when he was in love with the beauty queen. Though she always maintained the “we are good friends” stand, Vivek expressed his love for her. And of course, she moved on to Abhishek and married him in April 2007, while Vivek is still single.

Abhishek is making a special appearance in the film. “I am going to shoot the song that Abhishek and Vivek will dance together towards the end of May. It is the highlight of the film. Right now, I am busy shooting Zayed and Vivek’s solo songs,” says Apoorva. So, how did he manage this? “Main hoon na,” he laughs. Since he’s not saying anything more than that, many rumours are floating around.

The last film that Vivek was appreciated in was Apoorva’s Shootout at Lokhandwala and Abhishek has worked with the director in a very forgettable Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost. Maybe it’s the director’s expertise in his field or his plain charm that did the trick and convinced the two to work together. Whatever it is, it’s nothing less than historical.

Aishwarya rai abhishek perfect couple

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

/photo.cms?msid=2997575 ‘You complete me’ said Tom Cruise to Renee Zelwegger in Hollywood blockbuster film ‘Jerry Mcguire’ making all the lovers of ‘romantic dramas’ weep! Malaika Arora Khan too dedicated the dialogue to hubby Arbaaz Khan when she appeared as a guest on show KBC! Bollywood’s first couple Abhi-Ash too seem to have been following Tom Cruise’s mantra of late to make their marriage a success!

On the occasion of their first wedding anniversary, we questioned the couple as to which are the qualities that they’d like to gift each other in order to lead a happier life together and in return we got a ‘Femina Miss India’ kind of answer from the couple! (errr… No wonder Ash had won the crown way back in 1994!) Anyways, Abhishek said, “I think she’d like to gift me some virtues definitely since she is perfect but I don’t think I need to gift her anything.”

Ash too reciprocated Abhi’s affection by saying, “Neither do I feel the need to gift him any virtue! He is all I ever wanted to have and he makes me happy all the time! What else do you need?”

Now that is why we media people keep addressing the couple as ‘perfect’! They are perfect for each other! Even their opinions match!

Aishwarya rai worried about dates

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

She is at the most promising stage in her professional and personal life, but Aishwarya Rai is one worried woman currently.

If reports are to be believed, Ash has to choose between two very good (to say the least) projects with the most sought after film makers in India.

Ash has dates to accept only one film and she has to choose between Maniratnam and Shankar, both of whom had given important roles to this former Ms Universe during her initial stages in the film world.

Who can forget Ash in her grey sweater, sitting on the edge of the railing near the Kodai suicide point, flirting with Mohanlal in Iruvar? One could not but smile when the beauty swayed in a half-saree for Shankar’s Jeans.

While Shankar was the man who gave her the title of being the world’s eighth wonder in his Adhisayam song, it was Maniratnam who gave her an idea of screen presence and acting.

Ash’’s movie with Mani, where she will be paired with Abhishek (their romance bloomed in Guru) and Vikram (in Tamil) was a commitment that came much before Shankar’s Robot with superstar Rajinikanth.

Both the movies are in the pre-production stage and the shooting for both is slated to begin this September.Aishwarya, who has said that she is looking forward to working with her husband all over again, has also said she was dying to work with Rajinikanth.

Also, this dilemma takes on a different angle, with the astronomical fee she is supposed to have been offered for Robot.

If Ash accepts this offer, she will be completely occupied by Robot, as it is Shankar’s dream project and demands that kind of time from its actors.

In fact, inside sources say Ash’s contract with Shankar speaks of her putting motherhood on hold for this film, as it involves Ash losing weight and looking her best.

Rumors are rife that Aishwarya may just lose Maniratnam’s films (both the Hindi and Tamil ones) to Deepika Padukone.

When Aishwarya faced a similar date problem in Hindi for the role of Jhansi Ki Rani in a movie, the offer went straight to Deepika, who, of course accepted it (andhrastudio)eagerly.

So is Ash going to call the shots and ask Mani and Shankar to sort out their shoot dates so as to be a good part of both the films or is she going to sit plum on just one of the two offers and refuse the other? Watch this space for more.

Aish with vikram in mani ratnam film

Aishwarya Rai is getting good offers from south after her marriage with Abhishek Bachchan. She has already signed for Rajini’s Robot with director Shankar.
Now another Tamil director Mani Rathnam has narrated a script to Aish and Vikram and it is likely to get finalized very soon. And the film may go on floors by this year end.
Vikram is doing a bilingual film Mallanna (Kandhaswamy in Tamil) with director Sushi Ganeshan.

Ash wants to go through Rajini’s experience

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

Is she or not? There have been many speculations about Aishwarya’s presence in Shankar-Rajinikanth’s Robot. Two days back there were rumors that Aish may not do Shankar’s Robot. But her recent interview says that she is doing Robot and she is doing it because of Rajinikanth. “I want to work with Rajni sir, yaar. He is phenomenal. Everyone speaks of this experience. I’ll actually go through the experience. It’s very important for me to come away with something from my films since I give so much,” said Ash in an interview. “It’s a total Rajni-Shankar styled entertainer. There’s no logic as to why I agreed to do it beyond the urge to work with Rajnikanth. Shankar and Rajni sir have approached me for so many films, it’s embarrassing. Ever since we did Jeans together Shankar has approached me for all his films except Boys. Rajni sir, being the senior that he is, has shown no egoistic traits in approaching me for his last four-five films. And my refusal to do his films was never misconstrued by him. I admire him for that. It speaks volumes for his seniority and his calibre as a human being to never take offence to my no,” she added. When asked about the story of the film, “It is hard to define. But technically it will take cinema to another level. I can only say I’ll come away enriched. It’s very important for me to come away with something from my films since I give so much. The much sought after Aishwarya Rai, who has been turning down movies for more than just lack of time, says she accepted Rajnikanth starrer Robot because she just wanted opposite him.” she said.

Tollywood goes dub dub

Monday, March 10th, 2008

To dub or not to dub is a debate that has gone on unabated perhaps since the time of the first talkie movie.

However, filmmakers worldwide have gone ahead to dub their films into foreign languages. Tollywood has been a happy hunting ground for such films and these days we even have dubbed versions of major English movies releasing on the same day as the original.

That Ashutosh Gowariker was here with Ash and Hrithik in tow for the premiere of the Telugu version of his latest controversial movie proves the point. Hyderabad Times catches up with filmmakers, critics, the general public and industrywallahs to understand this phenomenon.

Jaycinto Fernandes, India head, marketing, for a premier Hollywood production house is very bullish about the potential in South India. “In South India, especially Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, the people just love movies and they are quite open to checking out something new especially when it comes to action flicks. We believe it is a huge market that we need to tap in,” says Jaycinto.

This phenomenon is not something that is entirely new, say industry observers, who feel the state provides an ideal environment for dubbed films which account for a third of the revenues in collections.

“With no extra taxes levied on dubbing movies unlike some other states, dubbing movies have always flourished in the state. The rising costs of making a proper Telugu film are encouraging many small-time distributors to get into the dubbing business as they can pose as producers,” says Prabhu, a film critic.

Movie business has always been a high investment - high-risk business but the competition in Tollywood has proven to be counter productive to the business. “With just a handful of bankable names in the business, the competition among the producers to snap up a star for their film has pushed their remunerations skyward, while the success rate of films in Tollywood has been spiralling down.
This has driven the small producers out of business and for them dubbing films provide good business opportunity,” says Kamalakar Reddy, one such producer who is now dealing only in dubbing English movies into Telugu.

The key word is return on investment here, as the film may not guarantee you a windfall of revenues but you certainly won’t stand to lose it all. “A dubbing film will incur a cost of Rs 5-25 lakh. Marketed properly, breaking even is not such a tough task and if you make a profit nothing like it,” says A Sreedhar, a film distributor.

But then there is a flip side to it too and many like Tammareddy Bharadwaja, the president of the producer’s council feel in the long run the trend will hurt the native industry. “To start with, watching dubbed films is just not the same as watching the original. They lack the natural feel. Secondly we cannot really compete with the Hollywood honchos when it comes to the scale or quality and the local industry will only stand to lose eventually,” says Tammareddy Bharadwaja.

Aishwarya Rai as Villan in Robot

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008
http://www.bollywoodpicturesonline.com/new_jpg/aishwarya_rai_007_qf.jpg

Many of us have always been curious why it took such a long time (since Jeans) for Aishwarya to be a Shankar heroine. Ash now reveals that of all the songs sequences she has been in, Athisayam from Jeans is one of her favorites. No other song, she said, was so aesthetically shot. Since then she had been eager to do another Shankar film, and was only waiting for a script that would give her a great role. And in Robot she has found the script and role she had been waiting for.

There is some news bytes flying around Tollywood that her role in Robot could be a one with strong negative shades – is it perhaps that of a bad Robot? But so what, she apparently countered when asked, because Shankar will turn even a villain’s role into something extraordinary. Insiders say that her character in Robot could be equal to that of Rajini’s character. Sources also say that the fight master for The Matrix, Yuen-Wo-Ping will be choreographing some special fight sequences for her.
