Ram Charan’s second film will roll from the end of this month. Kajal (Chandamama fame) is the heroine under serious consideration for this film. Earlier Amrita Rao, Tamanna and few others were considered but it is Kajal who might bag this mega film. In spite of being not so successful Kajal managed to get a positive nod from the makers, film circles say.

The news is yet to be confirmed from the production house. Rajamouli prepared a powerful subject for this film and Charan will be seen in a totally new avatar. He is currently spending overtime at gym and developing six pack abs to suit the role in this film.

Kajol Interview

Monday, February 4th, 2008

Kajal Agarwal has caused quite a stir with her glamorous act in Chandamama. Although she made her debut in Teja’s Lakshmi Kalyanam, she caught the attention of the audiences with Chandamama. She is now pretty busy in Telugu. The young actress is on cloud nine after her recent release Pourudu and Pazhani in Tamil are hits. She talks about the film, her forthcoming movies and more..

On Pourudu?
I am really happy that the film is doing well. The response has been very encouraging. The role that I played Samyukhta in the movie is very modern, educated and bubbly character, which I enjoyed doing. In my last two films, I played sober girl from rural background, here in enacting urban character was fun and very close to me. There is a little bit Kajal in Samyuktha, too.

About dance
I was also salsa dancer in the movie but I did not face any problems playing steps. I am already into - Jiving, another western classical dance form that made easier to do salsa.

On Sumanth and the team
Sumanth is nice guy. He is very professional and talented. It is my good fortune to be part of Annapoorna Studios’ production.

Kind of roles like to do..
I am too young as an actress to slot or set rules for characters. I am open-minded. On a personal choice, I would love to do roles that give me creative satisfaction.

How did your film career begin..
I am basically from Mumbai. While studying in the college, I was into theatre - performed many stage plays. Even though, I was not into modeling nor did I nurture dreams of turning actor, destiny brought me to the films. Probably this natural progress after doing stage plays.

On being a glam girl
I don’t mind doing glam roles but I’m uncomfortable wearing skimpy clothes. Being glamorous is different from looking vulgar. I know my limitations and will never wear any dress that I feel uncomfortable in.

Language problems
For an actress, language is not a barrier. I am learning Telugu right now. Can understand but yet to perfect it.

Favourite actors
Aamir Khan in Bollywood. I love Chiranjeevi and Mahesh Babu in Telugu. Sridevi is my all time favorite. She is the best. And also admire Sushmita Sen.

Current projects
Aatadista with Nitin is complete. There is another Tamil-Telugu bilingual titled Seven.

Kajal, a Mumbai girl who began her career with Lakshmi Kalyanam of Teja and Kalyanram is the leading lady of Tollywood now.

Though her first flick Lakshmi Kalyanam was big disappointment at the box office, her talent was well noticed in Krishna vamsy’s Chandamama.

And again she got good marks for her performance in Sumanth’s Pourudu. The film is doing well and producer is planning to increase the number prints.

On the other hand, Kajal is approached many producers to play female lead in their films and heroes like Nag and Venkatesh are recommending Kajal for their forthcoming films.

As Nayanatara is demanding huge amounts, producers are eyeing on Kajal as her remuneration is with in the reach.

One need not surprise, if Kajal replace Nayanatara in Telugu films.

The young and bubbly Kajal Agarwal is a late entry in Telugu. She made people to sit up and take notice with her action in Teja’s Lakshmikalyanam. The film did not do well at the box office but many directors noticed Kajal and she has bagged quite a few roles. Kajal then went on to act in the lead role in Krishna Vamsi’s Chandamama. She did a good job and the film was also a big hit. Kajal now has come up with another good performance in ‘Porudu’. She has been widely appreciated for looks as well as here acting talent.

On the other side, Charmi has been around for quite some time. She acted with some big heroes including Nagarjuna. She later on slipped and did not have many films. She was playing some bit roles and as a second heroine. All this changed with ‘Manthra’. The film has given a new lease of life and also proved that Charmi can single handedly pull in the audiences to the theatres.

The two are now in direct competition to bag roles. They are both good looking and also ready to dare and bare. They are also now in the race to learn Telugu. Charmi being an early entrant has some advantage. Charmi now speaks good Telugu. Kajal is also pickling up Telugu and now can speak with ease. At this rate, Kajal will soon be dubbing in her own voice.

pourudu review

The image “http://www.telugupedia.com/wiki/images/9/90/PouruduTeluguFilm1.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Story:
Bhai (Nassar) is a notrious mafia don in Hyderabad. Pandu (Suman) is his right hand. Ajay (Sumanth) is Pandu’s son. Ajay is a studious guy who wants to become an IAS officer. He clears the civils examination too. Hussain (Subbaraju) is a cop whose mission is to eliminate the mafia gangs in Hyderabad. Though son and father, sharing great relationship Ajay and Pandu fall out due to difference of opinions. The rest of the story is all about how the system forces Ajay to tread the wrong path to do the right thing.
Artists Performance:
Sumanth is good in the role of Ajay. He is excelled a lot in stunt sequences. Kajal Agarwal is adequate. Subbaraju has a meaty role in this film for which he has done justice. Nassar and Suman are competent for their roles. Kota is alright. Brahmanandam and Ali have some comedy episodes.
Technical Departments:
Story - Screenplay - Direction:
The basic plot of the film has roots in Godfather where righteous son steps in the shoes of mafia man. Direction of the film is adequate. The screenplay should have been better. The director concentrated more on father-son relationship. The director should have had the hero getting into mafia outfit by interval time. By keeping it in the last 25 minutes, he diluted the content for entire first half and the half of the second half. Director conceived action sequences well.
Other Departments:
Mani Sharma’s songs are alright. The rerecording is very good for action episodes. Dialogues lack punch in them. Cinematography is good. Setwork by Ravinder is good. The highlights of the film are action sequences before interval and in the climax. Editing is alright.
Analysis:
First half of the film is flat. The second half explores father-son relationship and action sequences. The last 25 minutes (where hero takes the revenge) part is interesting. The plus points in the film are fight sequences. On the flipside, the first half should have been made in a more interesting way. The comedy episodes were not properly handled. Though there are dialogues justifying the title Pourudu, it is a pure personal revenge story of a Koduku. On a whole, a better climax and good fight sequences make Pourudu an average flick.

Kajal looking forward in tollywood

Monday, December 31st, 2007

Kajal Agarwal was in town yesterday for the audio launch of Pourudu. She was wearing a beige and black tartan dress and looked really cool. Must say, our Tollywood girls are becoming quite couture conscious these days.

Kajal Agarwal has acted in a tri-lingual film called Cinema which has been directed by none other than Bharatiraja. The film will be called Bommalatam in Tamil and Kaalidasa in Telugu. It has Nana Patekar and Arjun in the lead.

Though Kajal started shooting for the first time for it, the film hasn’t been released yet. However, it is scheduled for release soon. Naturally, Kajal is really excited about it as she got to share screen space with Arjun and Nana Patekar in it.

She gushes she was treated like a baby on the sets and well pampered by both the stars.
