Miss Medhavi instead of mr medhavi?

The film Mr. Medhavi directed by Neelakanta hit the screens today. Raja and Genelia is the lead pair. The film is a love story with a slight twist in the presentation. The director gave the title as ‘Mr. Medhavi’. So we all assume that the hero is Mr. Medhavi.

Medhavi means an intellectual or a genius. But the hero, Raja is not exactly an intellectual or a genius. He is plain street smart. He is actually a cunning fellow who takes advantage if gullible to further his cause. By no account can we term him as Medhavi. He is just plain smart, cunning, cold and calculative, selfish etc. Bit not a Medhavi by any stretch of imagination.

On the other hands, Genelia, with her sharp brain and caring nature is the real Medhavi in the film. She brings about a change in the attitude and way of thinking in the hero. She accomplishes all this without giving an inkling of doubt to the hero. Even the audience is kept guessing till the end. So it would have been more appropriate if the title had been given as ‘Miss Medhavi’ and not Mr. Medhavi.

Director Neelakanta comes up with a good one with Mr. Medhavi. He is different from other directors and he has proved this yet again with this film. Mr. Medhavi is a directors’ film all the way.

Vishwaksen (Raja) is an orphan and is taken care of by a kind-hearted soul – Sankaram master. The teacher gives him shelter in his house and also gives him education. He also imbibes in him some good values.

Vichu becomes friend with a girl Swetha (Genelia) who has come from Canada and joins his school. They become god friend but the girl goes back to Canada after about two months.

But Vichu cannot forget Swetha and keeps dreaming about her all the time. He completes his MBA and lands a plum job in a big company run by Suman. Suman’s daughter comes to India to set up a big pharmaceutical company. She is none other than Vichu’s childhood friend Swetha.

Vichu works as her project manager in setting up the pharmaceutical company. He wants to make Swetha fall in love with her and uses his intelligence to try and make her say ‘I Love You’ first.

Swetha gives him a big shock by saying that she is in love with Anu Sood and wants Vichu to help her in winning his love. But Vichu actually tries to spoil her love by trying to portray him as a bad person. Swetha then uses all her intelligence and manages to bring about a change in the attitude of Vichu. She teaches him the values of human relations. The film ends on a happy note with Swetha uniting with Vichu.

The film is neat and clean. The comedy is also good. Dharmavarpu and MS Narayana come up with some good comedy. The performance of all the artists is very good. Genelia comes up with another good performance. Raja and Anu Sood are also good.

Music by Chakri, the cinematography and direction together make the film a good clean family entertainer.

Bramhanandam’s Variety role in Mr.Medavi

Friday, December 28th, 2007

Brahmanandam is known for his unique brand of comedy and that is known for all. He has done a variety role in the film Mister Medhavi directed by Neelakanta. After his famous roles like Khan Dada, Kaththi Ramadasu and others, now he portrayed the role of ‘Gandhiwaadhi’. He is not a routine Gandhiwaadhi but different. One has to watch on screen and enjoy that difference. His dialogues in the movie would be a grand treat for the audiences say inside sources.

Brahamanandam said, “I never acted in the direction of Neelakanta and awaited something from him. He is such a type of person who creates a role as there is an artiste. He picks up artiste only when there is a role. Now I got a role to play and that is Gandhiwadhi. I’m not a routine Gaandhiwaadi. I would become violent if anyone disturbs non-violence- because I’m Gaandhiwaadi”.

Inside sources are also saying about Brahmanandam’s role and sharing that it has come as a wonderful rib-tickler.
